    goldcoast australia advice need

I'm leaving for australia for one month. I'll be at the goldcoast and gladstone like to catch yellow tail kingfish.
dont like to break the bank and maybe take some local charters out those two city the cheapest i'll do it the best for me
remember I'm the only one in my party who wants to fish so other than the kingfish price is the most important thing.

    Hi Sonny

Gladstone is alittle to far north for kingies. While they can still be caught they would be a rarity, especially in summer. I dont know if you have access to a car but alittle bit south of gladstone is the town of 1770. Good fishing here http://www.1770fishing.com/prices.html

Also out of gladstone and 1770 you have a few long range trips. THese are from 2-7 days. Bottom fishing and a chance for a snorkel out at the reef. http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=e...=&oq=&gs_rfai= You can get some supprisngly good deals on these boats like 2 day 1 night $450

The gold coast has heaps of charter operators. I cannot vouch for any of them. Kingies are a viable target in the winter but become alot less frequent in the summer as you need to target them on the deep reefs and the current will be quite strong in summer. I have heard that fish the deep charters are ok.

Although if you have access to a car you should get in contact with Smithy from http://www.sqcs.com.au/ He is a bit further north (1.5 hours or so) and in summer is very good at live baiting the small to mid black marlin plus hoos and that. He runs a small boat and normally takes small group bookings but can generally fill a boat with others. Getting a date with him may be hard.

1 hour drive south of Gold Coast is brunswick heads. There was a great operator here but he gave it up. THese guys http://byronbaycharters.com.au/boat are new and i have not fished with yet but the area they fish is full of great structure and i have always done well fishing here on charters and my little boat.

Smaller boats that go with less punters aboard generally catch the live bait and target the bigger fish/ pelagic fish. Bigger boats are generally bottom bashing boat rides.
