yea - dont stress about how fast you can work it - if the Ajs are biting, not much matters, theyll eat just about anything

i have a quick question about rigging..I dont have any snap swivels so i cant attach the swivel to the solid ring, i put the swivel on the split ring. will that affect hookset?

ive never seen it done differently, all my swivels are connected to a split ring. you should be gtg! i dont know that i would want or trust a snap swivel up there.

i ended up going out on the carolina princess, and they only went about 15 miles out off cape lookout. I tried jigging but the water was way to shallow about 60ft. We cut the jigs off and went to the bottom rigs and caught 4 nice gags all just under the limit, a few nice keeper flounder, 2 scup, tons and tons of sea bass(only about 10 keepers a couple 3+ lbs), and some grunts. i was expecting going at least 30 miles out on a full day trip to some deeper water. i hope i can get out in the spring or summer on my friend's boat to do some real fishing
