Read your thread, and found it very informative, with tons of good information. I just wanted to mention the Penn 760 Slammer also makes an outstanding vertical jigging reel.
    It's a real workhorse of a reel, although it's a little heavy.:

I would like to add my thanks to GMAN for sharing his incredibly valuable knowledge on Jigging and Popping.

My first trip out we found some floating debris while trolling in 1500' off Stuart Florida. I dropped a high speed jig on on it and got a hit and cutoff on my second drop, the fish sliced right through the leader, Im hooked.

how should I rig the leader where there are Wahoo/cudas to deal with?
    thanks,
    Scott

The next bite on a jig.
You can try Windon Leader connected with Bimini Twist. For knots you can try PR, SIG and Slim Beauty.

    greaaaat post!!!!!

Man, after a full week searching in the internet for jigging information, this post was extremely detailed and cover everything. i will appreciate your advice since I am looking for a reel & rod combo for my kayak fishing adventures. i live in the northwest corner of Puerto Rico and have been kayak fishing for three months right now. I am a novice into fishing but man i am stoke into it. Normally on a good clean and flat day i can get up to 200' depht in reef bottoms. So far I have caught small yellowtails, medium Jureles and barracudas. Also do you think a good jigging combo will be suitable for trolling?

    Hollow Braid?

Just wondering if you have any experience with the hollow braids. I am interested in knowing if the hollow braids have the same/more/less resistance in the water column when compared to the same brand of solid braid? I know the diameter is supposed to be thin, but is that measurement under pressure or actual diameter of line coming off the reel? A line with greater resistance is not going to be ideal for deep water jigging, and I have read that may be the case with hollow braids??

It will work fine. However I would suggest Diawa boat braid first. It is a really good jigging line.
