    first time poster needs advice

first let me say hello and this is a great site. i have gathered a lot of info here. i have a couple of questions about my jigging connection. i have solid braid on my reel tied to a 130 lb spro swivel. my windon leader is made from 130 lb jerry brown hollow core braid with a 20 ft section of 80 lb flurocarbon inserted inside. instead of serving where the flurocarbon enters the braid i used the sato braid crimping kit this leader is connected to the 130 lb spro swivel tied to the main line by inserting the loop thru swivel and the end of the leader inserted back thru the loop and pulled tight. will this connection of the wind on to the swivel work or should i connect it a different way? also how should i connect the jig to the leader chrimp or tie? hope this all makes sense thanks in advance Paul

The next bite on a jig.
    Paul,

I think we can simplify your set up a little.

I'm going to start with the easy one first. Connect your leader to you jig with a knot such as a "two turn uni" to your solid ring. Then hook you jig to the solid ring using a split ring.

Your braid to mono connection can be accomplished by several different knots. Bear with me for a day. After talking with Ponce this evening, there are a few folks requesting a knot thread.

I use the Albright to connect my briad to my flor. leader. Its easy and fast to tie and its strong.

I like to crimp my leader to the solid ring with chaffing gear. I think most tie but over 80 lbs I like to crimp.

    Good luck,

First off, what are you trying to catch, that will make a differance sometimes.

Id delete the "wind on" and just go from braid to 60# or 80# leader/flouro.

ditch the Spro wind on and use one of the knots to connect your leader.
And tie directly to the solid ring using a palomar

I would try to simplify your set up, I would tie a pr or mid knot for your braid to flouro. Then tie a uni or palomar from your jig to your flour. You can search this site for all these knots.
I don't quite understand why people use wind ons?
