    First jigging trip 2010

Well, it took a wile but we here in southeastern Nc finally got a chance to go offshore. The water conditions were in question after one of the longest cold spells in history (15th longest I think)

The crew today was Nick (Slip Sliding), Matt, Pete and myself. We were on Nick's boat.

With the closure of most inshore edible fish we were headed to the break. The water temp was lower than we like and it was blended at best but we found what we were looking for.

AP,Cobia, White Trevally, Triggers, Grouper, and a load of jacks. Here are some pictures.

All grouper were vented and released.

Not on fire yet but it could be the water temp and color. It only gets better from now till March.

    White Trevally

    Cobia

    Red Grouper

    AP

    Trigger fish

    Gag Grouper

    Lion Fish

Craig, The area we were fishing gets flooded with cobia in the winter. The peak is the end of Feb. Was glad to get one this early.

We fished from the break to 220' and only the gags were caught closer in with some sea bass that didn't make the pictures.

We used a variety of "butterfly" style 100-300 gram jigs excerpt Matt used a bucktail on the gags.
