    Fin-nor OFC20L

Hi people, I have been doing Jigging in Puerto Rico and has been very good. I have learned excelent advice in this forum. Now i was thinking of buying a new reel but with a budget of $250. I was thinking about the saltist because a lot of people have them vs the fin-nor offshore .I am planning to tackling tuna, wahoo, grouper, and amberjacks. What do you say which should I buy, what gear ratio, and what a about the drag fin nor has 30 vs saltist 22 ????

The next bite on a jig.
They are both good. However, you can fish the saltist right out of the box, with maybe only carbontex drag washer upgrade.

Some people have been able to get the finnors going, but have had to work on them and bearing to get them to perform correctly.

If it were me, I would get the saltist with carbontex.

Get the Fin-Nor 20L and a set of CarbonTex drag washers along with it. Saltiga 30T washers will fit that reel. That set up will out last the Saltist 2:1. I say this have used both reels for several years now.

Low speed 4.9 for sure. For mechanical jigging it will bring the jig back up through the water much easier.

People this reel is very good, I have never tried conventional but this is reel works good. My rod is a shimano travella and is a great combination. I have taken 50 to 60 pound wahoo in fajardo Puerto Rico with no problem almost every weekend since january, the drag works great... planing to buy new carbon drag to see if there is some difrence as other people have recomended... but in my opinion one can use it the hole day without any problem. I still have my spheros which i think is one of the best reels for the money. I am planning to beat the shit of the Fin Nor so I will let you know. how it went.
