    Fin-Nor Marquessa for jigging

Has anyone actually tried out one of these yet. With 41 lbs of drag for the 20 and 30 size, they seem to be extremely well priced for serious jigging. They are one piece stainless and are very nicely finished.

They have been delayed a couple of times because of changes that had to be made but should be for sale about now.

If anyone has pulled one apart, I sure would be interested in knowing what they find. The 20 seems to be perfect if there are no design or engineering problems.

    Marquessa

One of the forums (Tackle) at Allcoast reported that the Marquessa had a problem holding a consistent drag setting. I haven't even seen one yet. I fish with and highly recommend an Offshore 95 loaded with 80 braid so I am very pro Fin Nor but haven't heard of anyone that has hands on experience with the Marquessa. Please post if you find out anything first hand, I am as interested as you are, it seems as if there is a lot of interest in R+D in new reels at this time and I can use a few.

Tackle Direct says machine from 6061-T6 aluminum, probably couldn't get light enough with solid stainless on a reel body

    Capt Nemo, you are right!

It is 6061 aluminum. I knew that and just boo-booed.

I will likely have a couple within the next few weeks and put them on big fish soon thereafter, some which should REALLY test their mettle.

I think I want a couple of 20;s for heavy jigging on Bluefins.

    Will report back on capabilities.

For jigging...keep in mind that these reels have a high gear ratio...

They do look nice, but I sure wouldn't want to pull on a bluefin with a 6:1 gear ratio...especially after jigging with it all day.

I hear that! I sure wish we could get some good weather when we could all get off work so you would have the chance to video that
