    Eastern Tackle - Cobia Jigging

Well it is official. I am now referred to in Hatteras as "The one who brings rain and current."

Our day started out fighting the rain and wind and 4+ knots of current. We managed some bass, red snappers and dolphins.

Patrick worked on the keepers with one of my new jigs that will be out in a few weeks.

We moved offshore and got some tiles and dolphin, but we were drifting so fast that it was a loosing battle. I did have the pull I was looking for out there and got it about 30 ft off the bottom before it pulled the hook. Ohhh well.

The late day plan was to go home via the beach to check for cobias.

When we first started looking I told Patrick I was due for some good Karma, because I had helped an old couple change a tire in the swamp at 10:00 at night on the way down. Surely I would be rewarded.

This is what happened next.....slinging the bucktail jigs from the tower!!!

I have some good video that I will get up shortly.

Patrick on the Little Clam is not only a great host and captain, but quickly becoming a good friend. I could say so many great things about him, but I encourage you to find out for yourself. www.littleclam.com

PS. I saw the biggest cobia I have ever seen in my whole life. It the made the 70lbr we caught, look like a runt. Its out there.

Thanks Jim for letting me tag along! The cobia meat has been very popular with the DC metro area. I only have 2 chunks left!

    Way to go Grimice

Jim, what kinda boat is that? the layout of the back deck just seems so perfect for jiging...so much open room, looks sweet.

Its a 42' commercial style boat. You can stand 5 across the back with plenty of room. Patrick enjoys jigging also, which makes it a jig friendly ride. Plus he is layed back, which is just my speed. Take your time, relax and kill em all.

He also has controls in the pit, so he's right back there with you. Its a blast.

Sweet cobes Jim! Did you get them to eat any jigs other than the Bucktails?

The Little Clam is a great jigging platform, and Patrick is a top notch captain. I've fished with him many times and leave impressed each time.

No reason to change what works. If they are eating bucktails, then thats what they get.

This morning I was however thinking about the little jig Patrick was using to catch bass. I wonder how they would like that one, because it has killer action on the up-pull. That in 100g might be a good one?
