    OR Devil 100 vs 200

Glen or Sami you guys have alot of time on these 2 blanks. What are your preferences. You find yourself grabbing one over the other. I'm leaning more towards the 200 but would prefer the 100 if it gets the job done on the 150plus fish.
I like the look of the blank bend better than the others after looking at pictures, but never felt one before. I'd just be buying the blank, not the rod.
    Thanks
    Trav

Trav ... Personally I love the 8'8" BD100, I find that the bend is in the perfect spot and the extra 8" gives me much more casting distance which gets me to the fish first.

Ive landed yellowfin up to 160 in 12 minutes and today Chip & Adrian used it again to kill a 200 pound 68" bluefin within 25 minutes.

The BD200 is a great rod as well but I always grab the 100 ... in this case length matters hahaha

Thanks for the reply. Thats exactly what i was looking for and wanting to hear. I think I will order the BD100, I just can't get enough punch out of my current tuna popping rod.

It willgive something to do during this constant E ENE blow.

How would you say the OR differs from the OTI? I have been considering the purchase of popper for the past few weeks. One of the lighter ones like (40-60lb). Any guidance would be appreciated, as I am stuck on decisions about both length and action.

Jim I can't speak first hand about the OTI Tuna Sniper, but I do have the older model 7'6" 40-60. That rod is great and very versatile but it doens't like to bend as much as I would like it. I even rebuilt the rod and samded it down to make it a bit lighter. From seeing Kil pics using the new rod and then seeing Glens pics it looks like the OR100 bends just a little bit more down further, which is what I'm looking for. Granted thats pictures with 2 different people fighting the fish. Also I want to try something different. The price is better for the OTI but thats OK to me. I know Sami and Smith Inc have been prototyping many different blanks the last 2-3 years so I'm sure they got what they wanted out of it.
None of this probably helps, but maybe. I wish I had the time to drive up to APS and try the rod. Paul is about 1/2 hr away and he carries the OTI, so I may go down and give it a feel.
ANother blank that cast great is the GLoomis Obsedian blanks. My buddies have them and they are sweet. Just something else out there.
Take care of that foot, going out there in the boats.

I'm not sure if you saw that thread on 360, but there are two pics of tow different OTI 40-60 bending totally differently, which confuses me a little. They are $200 less than the OR's and immediately available through Paul, which is a plus.

I'm totally confused about the whole thing. The reel will be the easy part.

Al products have their place in the marketplace. OTI rods are great rods especially for the price tag, Ive used them before and they worked fine I also believe that OR & OTI are different animals.

OR Rods have killed a lot of big fish, I don't know of any other casting rod company that has consistently decked big fish like these have. 175-200 pound yellowfins, done. 175-200 pound bluefins, done ... On 8'8" rods in less than 20 minutes

I am biased but I am also honest and have told many many people to buy OTI rods, carpenters, zenaqs etc

The OR rods are made to bend and deflect the energy off you and onto the fish. They bend in the right places and thats why people can land fish so fast. They have super high end components such as a soft touch fuji reel seat, Fuji MNSG SiC Guides etc. OR rods have been vigorously tested all over the world with great success and are also produced by SMITH LTD in Japan one of the worlds premiere jigging and popping rod companies.

In the end Im sure you can find 50 reasons to buy either product and no product is perfect ...

and besides its more about the angler behind the stick than the stick itself

This was on a huge yellowfin BD100
