    Deep Jigging Works

Last summer after catching several YFT I dropped a metal jig down for another YFT. I got bit but it was like a garbage can that could swim. After 20-30 minutes this came up and it's an Opah. Didn't weight it but it was at least 55 or so...a two hander for sure. Usually my son does the deep drop but from now on we will always try at least a few drops on kelp paddies and see what is below. 200' is where this one was at... I know the YFT is small for you guys but here in So Cal a 40lber is a huge one. Some years they are 5-10 lbs. and we are still happy to get them. PV APOLLO out

    Taste

The meat is rated as excellent, where most tuna are good. I smoked it and it was great. If you ever see it in a restaurant or seafood market try some. There are four different cuts of meat inside it also...pretty amazing...we get 10 of these a year or so off So. Cal so I was pretty happy to get one...PV APOLLO

I caught an Opah once in Hawaii. It is an amazingly good tasting fish. I've seen it in the markets before, but it ain't cheap.
