anyone got firsthand knowledge of the diawa saltist 2 speeds? i saw alantanis tear down of the saltis ld - it looks like the anti reverse pawl is somewhat flimsy - not sure if it is the same on the 2 speed. i am looking for someone who has caught a fish of substantial size with these reels and have tested the drag/anti reverse. any info is appreciated - tmg
I am not sure which one is 2 speed I have both the coventional torque and the super speed. The super speed has pulled up a few big grouper over 25lbs but did have gear problems after about 6 months of use. I just sent in to daiwa for repair. I just started using the lower gear ratio the torque model and it as worked well so far. I believe the 2 speed is designed more for trolling.
i have been using the single speed saltists and have notice the drags to be getting alittle sticky and there is not a defined stop point for the strike setting..... feels like you pass it every time.
Been using them a couple months now and they seem to be taking the abuse pretty good.Break down easy & have
plenty of drag. Only problem I've had was that somehow some
of the grease made it to the drag on one, but cleaned it with
some alcohol and its as good as new.heres one of several nice gags we have been catching with them.
I have the 40 LD 2 speed. It's a bad ass reel. Up against a 225lb bluefin in 58 deg. water it preformed flawlessly I would buy it again without a doubt.
