I hope no one thought that I had given up fishing in Costa Rica...not so much. Work has been busy and I haven't made the time to post up any reports.
Back at the beginning of the month I had some college buddies down for a week of fishing, beaching, and boozing. We threw the customary night of San Jose shenanigans in there as well....In case anyone was wondering, the del Rey is still full of wholesome girls until 3 in the morning.
Now to the fishing. We got 3 half days in...meant to go whole days, but no amount of dramamine could keep my buddies from doing mass amounts of chumming. In all fairness the seas were big and nasty for Costa Rica.
We still killed it though.....
My biggest cubrera on jig do date. My buddy actually hooked it and within 10 seconds told me to take it because he couldn't handle it and didn't want to lose it. This fish fought like a big cubrera should....down and dirty...it was really hard to move him
My friend's first fish on the jig...small YFT destined for the sushi plate. My boys had only been fishing once before but were moving the jig and hooking up like pros by the end of the trip
The fish tacos from this grouper were out of control
When they won't hit the jig just free-line some of these on a circle hook
Great shot of Isla Violin and the Sierpe River/Mountains in the background. This shoreline is popping paradise...and it is all mine. No one else fishes here.
First real big one for Adam....big AJ brought the pain!
plenty of albacore around
could've caught plenty of nice schoolies trolling all day long
lots of decent almacos
probably my all around favorite fish in CR
everybody likes catching a rooster
we did plenty of this as well
pura vida!
