So that means it isn't able to achieve 100% strength? Reason I'm asking doesn't really pertain to jigging, but when I was looking around for a knot to tie on my trolling rig with 80 lb power pro to 80 lb fluro leader I ended up choosing it. BUT I don't want to loose my tackle or the big one either.

Also I read somewhere, that it loses strength after a big fish because the braid cuts into the line on the first wrap.

Sorry for the small thread derailment.

you dont NEED anything ... its really up to teh angler to get as detailed or as simple as they want the connection. Using swivels before leader when jigging is not recommended because you dont want to reel the swivel to your expensive jigging rod guide and it limits your leader to less than two feet. There are better alternatives available with the PR Knot, Midnot, uni to uni or anyone leader connecting knot.

Swivels should be used at the base of the jig to prevent line twist during motion that it

    Thumbs up

Thanks for the info guys, I used a swivel last year and did not care for it, getting stuck or damaging my guide, now I may have had to large a swivel, but I preffer none at all.

Thanks again for the info and the leadertech site.

Loop to Loop. I use a bimini with 12-14 turns, two locks, and Zap A Gap to a Yucatan with 12-15 twists. I wouldn't have had the slightest idea what he was saying in that video if it weren't for the subtitles.

I have used windons for years on all my trolling rigs and have never had one fail at the connections. They are super strong and easy to change out when you have to. I also use a windon bridal for my planer rod which is under at least 60+#s of drag all the time without a failure. Super smooth going through the guides. The windons is also the way I have set up my jigging rods. You can buy windons and don't have to make them though I like to make my own. It is what I feel comfortable with and have great confidence in....Mark

    sebile knot

I found this knot on this site quite some time ago. This knot is
smooth, strong and easy to tie. I have tied it many times
while laying on a beanbag in the back of the grady white
moving from place to place. It works well with heavy or light
leader material and I've never had a breakoff at the knot.
Search archived videos at the top of the page (I think pg 4).

I've also used the sebile knot. I have not had any issues. It is very similiar to the knot in the japanese video.
