Comic Relief in Wilmington - older trip 4/24
Let me first give a huge thanks to Chip of Offshore Experiences & Rick of Living Water Charters. Those two guys are not only top notch charter Captains but funny funny guys and do everything to put you on the fish.
In addition Arlen & Robert, thanks for putting up with me I know I can be a pest at times and a little high strung
The purpose of this trip was to venture out and try to find some new spots to AJ jig unfortunately the amberjacks are spawning at the moment so it made it very hard to locate them in any numbers and in any size
That doesn't mean we didn't catch ... on the contrary. I probably landed more fish than I ever did but the size and quality just wasn't there so pictures of good fish are scarce on this report
Seeing as the amberjacks were spawning this first picture was fitting before the report ... its called match the hatch
This condom went down with the wrapper on but came up with a fish and the wrapper was off

Day 1: I dont see any value of posting 1,000 shots of medium sized fish so we only took a few pictures for the two days
I had the luxury of fishing with Captain Rick of Living Waters and Robert (stormtrooper) as Chip was out hunting monsters with Dennis Braid. We set off early in beautiful seas looking for big amberjacks got to our first stop and immediately dropped down ... well almost
Rick and Robert watched me drop down to see if anything happenned LOL
Well first drop provided a strike and we spent most of the day doing exactly what the first drop did ... hooking Alamco Jacks. I swear if those things got as big as amberjacks no one would jig. They are such hard fighters its insane
We basically hooked up on almost every drop with large and some really huge Almacos with maybe 4 amberjacks. We had blackfin tuna hits all day as well in the top of the water column but couldnt land any. I had my first gag grouper as well. Then came the slaughter absolutely every fish was just being ravaged by sharks. We had about 12 of them circling teh boat actually coming out of the water for a fish head. It was insane
Then Robert hooked a submarine that smoked a stella almost to the spool, he said it was the bottom until we drove 900' away from it and it was still fighting. Had to be a massive shark. It was an awesome display of power
With jigging slowing down we all of a sudden turned into sharkers as they were everywhere but of course as luck would have it when we needed Alamaco Jacks for bait we couldnt friggin find any hahahahahah and then when we did the sharks left hahahahah
All in All Rick ran all over teh world trying to get me on fish and stayed our really late doing it. The larger fish werent there but I had one drop one fish all day long
A huge thanks to Rick for going above and beyond for me, much appreciated and anytime you need comedy relief just let me know I will drive down. Robert you are one funny mother f****

Outstanding photographs Glenn, especially the ones of the dolphins. You are right about captains Rick and Chip. Good guys who fish hard for their clients.
Thanks for the post.

Cool report, thanks for sharing with quality pictures!
One of those dolphins would have let one of those Stellas sing a pretty song...
