i have a saltiga i will be using.
a saltist 50 may be a cheaper option for a reel.
    maybe a torium 30.
    for rods.
the st croix 79XXXH is nice, it light and has power.
there are a few new longer batson jigging blanks out. i think they are going to work ok also.
i just cut the tip on a seeker CSB909. that would be the heaviest blank ,,but nice.
i use a 8' lami rated for 50# for tuna, it should work for tiles also.
with the saltist or torium. the setups could run about 475 or so with the custom rods.

I am having a St Croix PM79XXXHF being built by Paul@JPR for the same purpose. Deep water fishing and some tuna jigging.

Give Paul@JPR a call. He can set you up with some nice rods.

As far as reels. Look at the Salists/Saltiga and Toriums/Trinidads. Also look at some of the bigger Avets and Penn Senators. I also use a Penn Baja Special which is nice. All fine reels.

i am not familiar with the Okuma,
but get a trinad with enough line cap to fish 800' and you should be good with the reel.

The Cedros will handle the tuna fine, not sure how it is going to like a 20 oz sinker for tile fishing though. The OTI 300 gram will do it easily and the 600 gram is probably too stiff to get a good action jiging 200 to 300 grams for tuna.
Right now Bass Pros has the Spring Classic going so they are doing the reel trade in deal. With the Saltist on sale and a reel trade you can walk out with a 50 for $129.

a friend of mine bought one of those cedros rods and i jigged a couple AJ's w it this summer out at the G tower and i was really not to impressed i would be kinda worried about trying to fight anything bigger than a 20 -30 class blackfin!! i think u would need a reel w a very smooth drag but hey thats just my 2 cents!!

I have a couple avet LS on shimano tallus rods that do double duty (jigging at night, tiles in the day). Actually triple duty because I keep a hoo rigged on them when trolling for pitching. Been very happy with them.

They are spooled with Daiwa colored line

Sound advice here. OTI 300g with a Saltiga 40 would be my pick. Paul could even twist it up for you nicely to match the saltiga. Just tell him you want the same thread as I got.

Cheaper rod option would be the often overlooked Diawa for $120. Great rods with a lifetime warranty, that so far I haven't needed on any of mine and they have been put through the ringer.

Mid price rod could be the mudhole ones that paul is doing.
