Most of the charters in Hatteras are fishing the Cedros medium heavy, mainly because it was the cheapest thing they could use to get into a jigging set up. Don't get me wrong, I am no big Okuma fan, mostly because of the POS reels, but the rod seemed ok for the money. Heck I have an F Series Trevalla MH and I wouldn't bet it would stand a good AJ on it.

Those Daiwa sticks seem to be tough little rods for the money. I didn't realize they had lifetime warranties on them.

I cut down the butt on mine to replace the gimbal with one of the soft ones and to make the butt shorter. This is cross section of the blank at the butt.

This is the new gimbal. I got it from Mike at Riley.

If your looking for a good rod for the $ go with a daiwa sa-b 70mhr-ds rod is great for tiles and tuna jigging $129 ( rod has the double foot guides )

As far as reels can't beat daiwa saltist for the $

I have accurate 665h 2 speed also great reel but lots of $

Gotcha Hatterras. I am the same way with the Ugly Sticks. I know lots that love them, but I won't own one. No point in holding a rod you don't like, no matter how cheap it is.
