    chirp chirp chirp....

Pretty quiet in here lately... I don't know if everybody is fishing or what. Hope so. Anyhow I have seen a few jigging videos lately and I don't know if the most of the fisherman in them are left handed or not, but do you guys use the handle on the right side of your spinners even if you are right handed?

Van, I was wondering the same thing about this plae today. Hopefully everybody is out catching huge fish on tiny rods and will post up. Im at work, so I live thru other adventures when I cant get out myself.

As for your question, Im right handed, but use a spinning reel left handed(to crank). I tried to do it the other way, but it just felt odd, been cranking left handed my whole life, and doubt I'll ever change.

I don't know why but conventionals= right handed, spinners= left handed. I am right handed. I tried a spinner left handed and the feel just wasn't there. It was awkward.

all my conventional reels are right handed, and i reel with my left hand on spinning stuff. my buddy reels with his right hand on both types of reels. i tried out his new stella and hooked a decent sized blackfin and lemme tell you it was akward reeling him in with my right hand on a spinning reel.

I'm a lefty so handles on the right are just fine.
What I do not understand is when folks don't complain bringing in big fish on conventional reels, handle on the right. Then they (even experiened guys with right handle conventional) catch a fit if the handle is not on the left when we go on the bottom with spinning gear...
For bottom fishing and jigging you don't usually need to cast!
So why are conventional reels made with handles on the right if most folks like it on the left???
