Check these out... our new offshore jigging rod

After working with a few of the bottom hunters here on the site, we've come up with a very nice jigging outfit... This is a 30-80 Super Seeker blank with and Alps gimbal .. the Alps gimbal is heavy duty marine grade aluminum, what makes it different is the side slots are cut a lot deeper then the top and bottom slots .. if you have on one of your bad attitude YFT .. this gimbal will allow you to follow the fish side to side with out the gimbal coming off the bar in your belt ... i hate it when that happens .. the rear grip is Mooseskin eva foam .. a little smaller in diameter then most rear butts .. 1 1/8 inches .. it will let you keep it under your arm with a little less balk and a little more comfort. The reel seat is the heavy duty Alps, triangular, aluminum .. the Super Seeker blank is too big in diameter to use a Fuji Palm support reel seat like we use on our smaller diameter jigging rods .. we thought about it and wanted a reel seat that would help the angler hold the rod easier, like the trianglular foregrip, help with griping the rod to eliminate twist or turns when he had a fish on ..
It was an automatic when we thought about how the triangular fore grip helps ... we thought if i were going to offer a different reel seat it should be aluminum ..stronger and have a locking nut ..easy decision.. we like it a lot .. it has self aligning hood and huge lobe nuts .. After the triangular reel seat we use a triangular fore grip .. 10 inches long ... the guides are the Alps .. DRR ... ( Deep Recessed Ring ) they are a lot like turbo guides .. but the rings are almost covered with the 316 stainless steel frames .. this makes them really hard to knock out ... and that was the idea ... the rings are Zirconium .. they are super hard and smooth .. made for braided line ...

The rod weighs in at about 18 ounces .. not at all bad

Wow that is a sharp looking rig! Nice job. How do you like those reel seats? I've always just used Fujis.

As you know, with anything that's even the slightest bit innovative, you have to take it for a ride yourself. Over the summer, we made several rods using the same blanks, foregrips and butts (slimmer as mentioned above) and gave them to 2 fishermen that jig often to try out. According to these guys, it was amazing how much gripping power had increased with a triangular foregrip. I mean, it doesn't slip allowing you, obviously, to put much more leverage into your fight. The only variable was in the reel seat. Since the foregrip was triangular, we figured why not see if a difference matters down through the ferrel. The consensus was that the Alps butt was definitely superior to the anything else these guys had used before. "Palming" the reel was as comfortable as it would probably be with a Fuji graphite. However, from the very first sight, you will notice much deeper grooves cut into the ferrel, large locking nuts adding to increased rigidity, leading, of course, to a more confident set up.

I hope that answered you question.

That's a good looking rod! $$$? Are you using the Alps hardware on all your rods? I'll check your site!

To answer a couple of questions...

We do not use Alps on all of our rods. Typically we use Aftco, PacBay, Batson. We found that the triangular shape that Alps has for jigging rods was a great product and match for this highend offering.

The particular rods goes for $315.00. We do make other jigging rods using different components for as little as $170.00

Most jigging rods are made between 6 and 7'

Very Sweet! I especially like how the eva grip is tapered into the blank! Good stuff!
