Check out my new Anglers Envy 500g Jigging rod

Built by Kevin Knox, to match the new diawa saltist 2 speed. Rods are hard to photograph, but it is spectacular in person.

Looks like some sweet threadwork. What kind of blank is it? Did you take a pic with it loaded yet?

    Guys,

That blank is the American Tackle AXVJ5810
    length 5’8”
    Line (LB)50-100
    Lure Gm 500 GM.
    Lure OZ 18
    Lure Range 8-18oz
    Butt .602”
    Tip 11
    Weight 5.6 oz

They are fantastic blanks. The performance thus far has been remarkable and the customers that I have built them for are raving about them.
What I like about them is that they are, in my mind, an awesome utility rod for the boat. They can of course be used for jigging, but also for bailing dolphin, pitching back to long bills, or casted to breaking fish. All that in one rod. Amtak builds a wonderful blank and their reputation and products and second to none. This rod, along with all of the rods I build have a lifetime warranty. When I build my rods for my customers, I do it with the idea that each rod will be stressed to the max with a beast on the line and take the time to build it right. No shortcuts here!!
Below are some pictures of Nemo's rod and one that I built for myself.

    Looking for a new one
Are those American Tackle Vertical Jigging blanks the same blanks as the Mudhole Vertical Jigging Blanks that are "Built by a custom builder?

They both have the same exact specs?

I'm interested in the 325g rod. Wondering how they perform.

Very nice! I love that metallic blue!

Mudhole is American Tackle!! Look at their addresses. Same blanks, probably just different packaging (haven't used the Am Tackle ones yet). I have used several of the Mudhole VJ blanks. The 15-30 is a killer fluke blank, the 20-40# works for fluke, bass, bluefish and a friend caught a 7-8' blueshark on one. I use the 6'6" 30-50# as a all purpose LIS rod or as a spinning rod for Mahi. The tip is softer than the 6' 20-40#, so with smaller fish on, it's like a soft fast action, and then the power of the rod kicks in with larger fish. Great all around inshore boat rod! I'm trying to convince Todd to get the blanks made up in 6'6 or 7' lengths, extended from the butt end for boat rods!

I talked to Todd V from Mudhole who designed these blanks and I get the max fishable drag ratings and flex the rods to those numbers to make sure the guides are spaced properly, there is clearance with the line and blank and foregrip, etc. For the money, they are VERY nice blanks and one of my most popular sellers!

This is the 6' 20-40# against a blueshark, Avet MXL with 65# braid. It was designed as a striped bass/bluefish rod, but he uses from fluke to sharks!

Yep, I know they are in the same building. I order from them almost every day. Thats why I buy from them because they will combine shipments for me. It saves me a few bucks in shipping which can really add up.
Mudhole still gets blanks that are not made by American Tackle. Since I deal with American Tackle direct, I have never looked at the specs on the Mudhole stuff to see if they are the same. I can only surmise that they are.
I love those blanks as they are very durable and great performers.
If you ever need anything from either place, PM me and I can help you out as I deal with them wholesale.

I get stuff from Merrick, Mudhole and now Versitex. If I need something quick, Merrick I get overnight usually being 1 state away, Mudhole in 3 or 4 days (Fl to CT), and Versitex for the non rush orders (1.5-2 weeks Pa to CT??)! Wholesale accounts for all 3 The Am tack and Mudhole blanks share the same specs, and Mudholes has their packaging and decals, I haven't seen the Am Tack packaging and decals.

I've been very impressed with Mudhole and the Am Tack components and blanks lately. Their Ring Lock guides and Virtus are very nice, they have been coming out with new blanks that work very well, etc. I just ordered up an Am Tack aluminum reel seat and gimbal for a trolling rod, very nice quality to it! Mudhole has their CRB Inshore and MHX lines of blanks, which are nice, too! They have been bringing new items out to the market and they are good values for quality vs price! I am comfortable recommending many of their blanks over some higher priced offerings to my customers because I have seen the quality in them. Those VJ blanks are just awesome!! Mudhole has great customer service, too!! Great guys to work with.
