building jigging rod

Hi,
I am going to Croatia in september to see my friend and I would like to try butterfly jigging.I would like to build one for myself but I am new to butterfly jigging and If you can help me that would be great.
I am looking for blank, spinning reel, line test, hooks, jigs, gudes and guides spacing.
My buget is around 400 USD for blank and reel.
I will fish in 100 - 300ft.
Any recommendation would be appreciated.

Thank you!!!

WELCOME to the site..

i am not sure what you are fishing for,
but.
you can get a shimano saragosa 18000 reel or a quantam boca/cabo reel that are pretty good starter reels, and not bad price.

for blanks.
the VJ vertical jigging blank from mudhole are nice. about 60$
i think riley rods has a blank that is priced well also.
the OTI are nice also..but more money

i like the VJ blanks,
and have another blank that works well. and little less money.

there are alot of 'high dollar" blanks around,
but when compared side by side. with the others..
most guys dont feel the need to spend the extra money.

if you have unlimited budget, just spend away

good luck in your search.
if you need more help. feel free to call for info.

I will fish for Amberjacks, Dorados, Mahi-Mahi.
What is the best blank for that price.

Thank you

Here's a link to a sweet blank. Jaws makes 5'9", 7'6", and 8' long. Very tough blanks and was amazed at the photos. The VJ blanks that paul spoke of are good too, I caught hundreds of AJs on them. But I like the Jaws more. If chosing Jaws go with J594, or going with VJ blank (mudhole) chose the 500g. Its a light 500g nothing like the JM, OTI, Riley, Jaws type blanks.

What ever chosing put most of the money into the reel.

Riley Rods RRTT6850=5.4oz
Mudhole CBVJ6810=5.6oz

500g is overkill for what you are looking for anyways. I'd go with a 300g or even a 200g.

the blanks we talked about are all good.
and work well.
take a look at them.
you dont need to spend 100 for a blank to get something good.
but if you have the extra money, the OTI 300g blanks are around 100$.
if you feel the need to spend

If you like to have simply the best blanks available close to $100, go with Super Seeker Hercules blanks. The retail price of the blank is $125.

kil.
i havent seen these yet.
do you thing they are better than OTI? and riley?

how many fish have you caught with them? what size fish?
have you fished them much?
or is it just someting you are selling in your store,
with no testing.

other than your friend selling them,, what makes them "simply the best".

sorry for all the questions.
but there are just so many GREAT blanks out there.
i cant belive i havent even seen these yet.

What is it exactly that makes these simply the best ?

Hope it is not the action or strength. I can get indestructible solid glass fast action blanks for $8.

trav,, what jaws have you tried?
have you cut them?
have you fished them?

i have only felt one model. we were testing them at the rodbuilding show in NC this year.

they seemd like a decent blank. a little faster than the pics.
and seem like they need to be cut for VJ rods.
