Lets say your on A boat in the dark and cant see your metered line what would you do then? I have mounted underwater lights on my boat and other than the Taco t-top light and led under gunnal lights do not plan on running any other lights other than the spreaders when A fish needs gaffing.I believe that on my boat in those circumstances it will be almost impossible to see that type of line what would you suggest?

another option would be to set A tape mark at every 50ft interval down to say 200 if canyon fishing.Inshore BFT fishing really isnt A problem as the fish are usually close or at he bottom.

I fish on a boat at night all the time and never have issues reading line coming off my reels. Im sure you have lights on your console t-tops correct? The colors are yellow, red, blue, green with little yellow markings between. Non issue

I can't stand Power Pro. Garbage! I have 50# test that right off the spool snaps at 25# of drag. Incredibly coarse, loud in the guides and that waxy coating really bites. Not good in my book! So what if it is cheap?? I'd rather buy the good stuff since it will last longer, and won't need replacing constantly. Buy quality once and make sure your gear is up to snuff. The Daiwa and Suffix metered stuff is much cheaper than the Japanese name brand lines, and since I have my own rodbuilding business, I can deduct the cost. After all, I need to test my rods! I need reels and line to do that! The Daiwa stuff is so much limper and smoother, it's no comparison to the PPro. For anyone that has tried the Sufix metered stuff, is it any smoother than the regular solid color??

If you like Power Pro and it works for you, fine. I outlined the reasons why I want the metered stuff. The solid color isn't an option, period. We have 2 deep sword rigs out, 2 shark rigs at different depths and usually a tuna bait or something, all at different depths at night while drifting, which is when I will be jigging. Kinda hard to jig on the troll! If the jig scopes and tangles, I want to know where it is and which line(s) it is in. Makes untangling so much easier! Plus I can check the fish finder, see what depth we are marking fish, and drop down to them. Nice and easy! I usually carry a small LED flashlight and will be getting those hat brim lights, too. We usually have some lights besides the ones in the water, how else would you cut up chunk bait in the pitch dark?

WE have all our chunks cut up and pre proccessed before we go makes it alot easier not chunking when we get out there.WE keep them in 5gal buckets and put them in the chum chucker. When tuna start biting we through out addl chunks into the water.Makes life A lot easier only to have to put the hook baits on the lines! I have had quite A few experienced jiggers on my boat and they always have A problem seeing there metered line due to poor lighting primarily in the front of the boat.Because the back of the boat is usually where we are chunking and baiting. But I can always tell the jigger where his jig is because the jigs always come up on the sounder thanks to RAYMARINE.when it works.LOL I can sometimes see A tuna as it is just about ready to strike A jig on my sounder.

Yeah, I am getting those little hat brim LED lights, neat stuff! Or a glow stick, that way it won't kill the night vision. We didn't have a Chucker on the boat I was on, and we had a large flat knife for bulk cutting the flat, but no board big enough to use it! So it was knife time with a little bait knife for the whole night! Then one of the guys threw the knife in instead of the chunk, so out came a hunting knife to finish out the night! I work 3rd shift, so my eyes get pretty well adjusted, so I shouldn't have a problem with the metered at night.

there is a hat you can get over here with led lights in that work great and arent bulky. Will find the web address. they work great for the situation your talking about. I think after a while of using your gear you just "know"how much line is out without looking at it.....

I guess my math theory works at night too! I can count how many seconds it takes to hit bottom in the dark just as easy as during the day. It also takes into account the current, somewhat, which metered line doesn't. Just my opinion...which is a novice one!
