Had Travis and his group out again for a jigging trip with the BFT. We were sapposed to have a video guy on board but he failed to show......could'nt remember what day it was . Any way we got out to the grounds and I stopped on some bait and before the boat came to a stop travis had a line in and got two hits. After he shook those two misses off it was on from there on out. the action wasnt hot but very steady up until around 1 pm. we went 10 for about 20 bites and the last one being a nice 46 inch yellowfin that was a surprise. The Jigging thing is awsome to watch and and the guys have a blast trying to out-do each other with how fast they get the fish to the boat. all the fish but 3 came on the spinners with 30lbs of drag and the fast jigging method seemed to be the ticket for the day. I can say this, the method is deadly, the yo-yo slow jig didnt seem to work as well and that was changed to fast jigging with a regular reel buy jim. after he change his method he started getting hookups and hits. I myself am blown away buy this way of jigging and I can see that it takes alot of practice to master the fast retrieve style as I tried it for a few minutes and I could feel myself way out of sinch with the jig. All I need now is a spinner set up and I will get it down soon.
Here are the pics from the day. I love the shot of travis gaffing the fish and ripping a 58 inch bluefin over the side like a candy bar. the one pic is a tripple header of travis mike and jim. Jim hooke up first then as the boat was moving travis and mike threw their jigs out and both got nailed it was great! I hope to get out one more time with this crrew to get video because it is awsome to watch.
