Bluefin in Cape Cod with Nicola from Spain

Nicola is one of the most well known jigging and popping fishermen in the world. He contributed many articles of jigging and popping in several major fishing magizines
He visited the US to write articles of bluefin fishing in Cape Cod with his fishing frien, Mario from Spain.

---------------------

I finally met Nicola yesterday. It was like to meet an old friend though it was the first time I met Nicola.
It was very plesant day to fish as we were very relaxed from start to finish.
Fortunately bluefin cooperated for the whole day.
We had four for six. Though we marked lots of tuna, we could land only one buefin on jigs. I even had a nice whiting on my jig.
If you like to jig dogfish, it is THE TIME and THE PLACE.

Willie fished bluefin in Cape Cod for 5 - 6 times for nothing and he finally could fight a nice bluefin for the first time in his life.
He was a happy man yesterday.

I had about 66" tuna on Sevenseas Hooker jig. I used 500g Custom JM rod and JM PE5 filled with Varivas BigOne PE5. The fighting time was 11 minutes. Later on I hooked up a decent blufin on Carpenter small BC-y 45-160 stickbait on Hots 77XXH rod and Acucrate SR20 filled with Varivas Avani PE6. I was impressed with the performance of Hots 77XXH rod. It is one of the strongest rods Ive' used. Yet, The tip of the Hots is stiiff, but for some reason, I could cast light 50g stickbait pretty far.

Mario finally hooked up a decent bluefin on his small Japanese lure.
While releasing the fish, the eye of the lure got opened. It becomes clear that through wire is a must for big bluefin in Cape Cod.

with Nicola.

Hi Kil,

I fished in Panama with Nic, he was very knowledgeable and fish hard all day, every day. Very good to fish with him.

Glad you did well.

Andy, I am suprised he didn't fish with you in Alaska.
While having dinner together last night, he said he never caught a cod before. He is definitely hardcore fisherman.
When he started jigging for the first time, He started jigging from 7:00 am and finally landed one on jig at 7:30 pm.

Thanks Jim for posting.
I really like the picture. In fact, the tuna is going to be the last tuna I caught in Cape Cod this year as I am done though it is not over yet.
