Blade on Jig?? What do ya'll think?

What do ya'll think? Add a little flash and flutter? This is a willow leaf blade. I took a Spro power swivel and cut it open with some snips. I bend the openings back over with a small pair of needle nose pliers.

Thank god I'm going Giant Tuna fishing next week. The frozen tundra of CT is giving me cabin fever.

Anyway, thoughts, opinions, criticizisms are all welcome

    bang it up

    John,

That blade might scratch the nice paint job on that jig

How about putting together a jig daisychain?

That is a nice looking jig, whats the weight? It looks fairly heavy.

Should help some fish decide they need a bite... In blue water that must add quite a bit of flash.
Good luck with your GBFT trip.

John, you a great thinking fisherman! These are great inexpensive enhancements to any jig and something I've always intended trying. There is a Japanese jig company doing this already so you are on the right wavelenght!

I did the same thing last year only the blade I used had a rattle on it. It slowed the jig down too much. I didn't catch anything on it. Hope you do better with yours.

In my opinion, I believe in one aspect the leaf may be a detriment to the action. On the drop the leaf will be pushed up against the jig. Alot of fish are caught on the drop and if the leaf creates an adverse action this could turn off any strikes on the drop. The leaf may also create noise from ticking up against the jig on the drop this could be good if its the right kind of noise that fish like your in luck if not they could be turned off.
Again this is my opinion, you may be on to something. Tryin new things can lead to the next great fish catchin idea. Keep workin at it and let us know what happens. Thanks Tim
