Birthday Favor

Hello Jigging enthusiasts. I need a favor please. I have a birthday coming up and am wanting to get into some jigging. I fish out of the Wilmington NC area so I will mainly be fishing for grouper and the likes. Never touched a jig before and I would love it if some of you experienced jiggers could reccomend a good entry to mid level jigging rig. Rod, reel, line, you name it, I will appreciate it. I have looked at the shimano rods and they are amazing, but I'd rather not spend 600 bones on a reel for something I have never done before. Thanks alot.

what size fish do you plan to target? how deep are you going to be fishing? there are alot of good outfits to Jig with,

I guess mainly grouper. I have heard that people have had success jigging for Kings and AJ's. Possibly 200 ft of water I would guess would be the most. Like I said, never touched a jig before. Don't have the slightest idea.

depending on your budget.you might look at the saltist or torium reels, maybe a JX ..they are all mid range..there are others in different price ranges..but those are great starters, for the rods a nice 7' that handles 50-65# should be fine to start. your budget will determine what models there are alot of good choices, seeker has a "new" blank..calstar another good choice.
