Big E and the Angry Bean

Just got back from a 60hr trip on the Big E in Freeport. Overall conditions were not very enjoyable with the hurricane, which sucked because I was really there more for relaxation, than a big fish killing.

Things started off pretty well on the bottom fish. I scored this warsaw grouper.

Later on I had lunch of spicy beef. Unfortunately I ate a pepper that I thought was a green bean and that was where things went a little south for me, combined with the deteriorating weather. It has been a pretty long stretch for me back to the last time I didn't feel well, but I made up for it all in one trip.

I didn't get many pictures because of my health and the conditions, but this is what I got.

An oil rig at the very start of the 60hrs, when it was still nice..

    Making bait.

Lee getting wet. This is pretty much how the last 48hours of the trip looked.

I lost two to the rig that I had hooked on 300g Potroast First Drops. Since my wind-ons were shot on both my heavy jigging sticks, I pulled out the electramate with a 7" hardtail and me and two of the mates finally wrestled one out of the rig. But it took all three of us and an electric reel.

One other guy got lucky and was able to pull one out of the rig while I was busy breaking them off and that rounded out our two day boat limit of one per day per boat.

ohhh yeah. Forgot to mention, this is the best eating grouper I have ever had. I was not sure because of the size of the fish, but there is a little fat layer between each tissue layer that makes them unbelievably tasty.

Nice Grouper Jim. So did you read the red sign on the head that told you to go to the rail?

Yes he did, I passed by him and he didn't look all that great. Then i decided to go back down the other side to only find another fishing buddy doing the same thing. He was the one that made the angry bean soup.

After watching this, wrestling a little Warsaw from a rig is childs play.

Sorry to hear you got sick Jim. How did the rest of the boat do while you were making the angry bean soup?

Also, how does mid-November sound for you Costa Rica-wise? Looks like I'll be making a trip down.
