Best day time jigging of Yellowfin in a long time yesterday and today plus trolling-chunking produced some nice fish as well.

Yesterday afternoon for those jigging pros it was some very good Yellowfin fishing. Fish were also caught pretty well on the chunk both today and yesterday. Boat by us today had 8 or 9 today with 4 on live spot and 5 on jigs. One group of accomplished jiggers we know had 14 on the jigs adn chunking yesteday afternoon mixed in with rays and false Albies. We watched boats today with 3 on at a time on jigs as we were trolling around the birds which were thick and hundreds of them.

Still nothing at night as the Yellowfins quit biting yesterday around 7:15 and did not start up until after daybreak today. Yesterday there was a parking lot on the tuna grounds and the best of it started late in the afternoon when the fleet thinned out. Today there were far less boats and it was on all day for almost everyone out there with some doing super good and other just picking away but I think everyone had a few today. Some small ones barely legal and others over 70 lbs mixed all right together. If you love to jig you would have enjoyed today but no bluefins at all recently or Wahoo bites like yesterday for anyone around us today.

There are some boats up from the southern ports where we are fishing on hour overnight trips and were arriving as we were leaving today at 2:00 pm and I am sure they will do very well as it was really on late this afternoon when we left. Inside the Carteret canyon just where we have been fishing for almost 6 weeks now.

I am sure some wil post had banner days today but I am off to bed as we go again on Sunday very early and we had all or bites on planners today but lost 3-4 really nice Yellowfin close to 70 lbs or more but only tried jigging for a few minutes as we trolled all day.
