    Best Braid for Lighter Jigging?

Guys - Your advice has been solid, thanks for the help. Had a couple guys tell me power pro wasn't good, (currently using 40#). Daiwa Saltiga Boat Braid was recommended but can't find 40# in 300 yd spools, 55# the lowest.

Now using Stradic 8000 and Trevala MH 50-100lb set up, usually in around 150-240' off Miami. Fishing jigs 110-240gr. Grouper, AJs, Bonito, Kings, Almacos, etc.

I was thinking of putting 30# on one spool for real light use and 40# or 50# on the other spool. Thoughts? Is the 55# Daiwa boat braid too heavy/thick for one of the spools? 40# biggest I've ever gone.

    Thanks,
    Greg

Get the daiwa saltigia boat braid, you won't regret it. Once you get used to it you won't have anything but PE line. Also get the 55lb, their braid has a much smaller diameter as opposed to other brands with the same breaking strength. For example their 80# boat braid has the equivilent diameter as 65# power pro.

Tuf-Line XP or Jerry Brown solid. I have had enough problems with Powerpro to last 3 lifetimes.

daiwa makes samurai braid which is the same thin as the boat braid but not metered. they have 300yrd spools all over the place.i have used pp 30lb for this last season on my stradic 4000's for light casting to macks and reds. you will need like 400 yards or more on the 8000 spool!! it has worked flawlessly. the only time i had problems with pp was in 50 pound and up. it would just break for no reason.
for the 8000 it will be nice to have the 55 pound pound daiwa either samurai or boat just incase you have to put some heat on a fish heading for structure.

Thanks a lot - I have been joining the 40# to 50# flouro (6' leader) with a bimini twist and then uni to uni connection. How do you rig the multi-colored line, can I go right to flouro in the same manner? Any consideration for visibility underwater?

    Thanks,
    Greg

Personally I don't like big clunky knots going there my guides. I make a bimini or surgeon's loop on my braid then a loop to loop connection to my leader which is a short mono windon leader to my jig.

FYI. Hey Andrew, there was a bad batch of this on the market over the summer. There is some good out there and some bad, so if I had any, I would test it.

I would recommend sticking with regular boat braid.

If you want to do knots the slim beauty and SIG are both good knots that I can tie consistently and are very strong. Then there is a Page Ranking (PR). But most folks find the windons are the smoothest, strongest and most reliable.
