Day 2 Bermuda Jigging seminar and fishing.
Well The seminar went GREAT,
Day 1 of fishing was a Classic Epic Trip
Day 2 of fishing only got better.
Day 2 really started weeks ago,
Again my friend Brent in Bermuda was very helpful with the jigging seminar and arraigning for good fishing .
His friend James from the wound up .is a very well know charter in Bermuda, a world class guy with amazing fishing skills.
I was able to talk to James a few times before the trip, we hit it off great,
He was very interested in jigging, and giving a few different setups a try.
We were more than happy to help with the equipment.
We planned to fish with James on Saturday.
After getting back to the apartment at close to midnight fri, after day one, 5am comes early.
We were going to meet James at 530 to head to the boat the Wound Up. Which is a Sweet 37 Duffy
A great downeast style, stable boat, nice cabin to get a little rest in.
Nice down below sleeping area, and a very nice cockpit for jigging, and fighting fish, pleanty of room to rig up
We started out of port and headed towards the tower, which is a great place to jig fish.
great sunrise in bermuda,
The ride out was not wasted,we trolled and picked up a Wahoo.
Marked some nice fish.
Saw a new Viking that was coming into town, they were hooked up to what we heard was a 500#+ Blue marlin. We watched for a while Then headed to the jig grounds.
The jigging was pretty good we were hooked up right away.
Putting some real nice fish in the box.
Every drift we had fish.
After a few drifts, we had about 8 different species in the boat.
Man what a great time jigging.
After getting a early start we deceiced to head back to port a little early in the afternoon and troll while going in.
We set out a limited Wahoo spread.
During the troll the right downrigger goes off,
James jumps from the bridge and grabs the rod, trying to drop back to the fish,
After a few taps, fish was gone,
Then…The rod next to me on the Bridge starts SCREAMING…fish on.
I handed the rod down to James who made sure the fish was there, and handed it to drew.
The fish took a lot of line.
We got the boat turned and chased, backed down,
And after about a 20 minute fight,
A estimated 200+# BLUEMARLIN was boat side.
What a great fish.
This REALLY topped of a great time jigging, trolling in Bermuda.
Back at the dock we were hand feeding jack cravelle at the dock .
James from the Wound up is a world class fisherman.
It was a pleasure to fish and learn with him.
Ended the day with a nice bucket of fish for the market.
