Great report Jim! That about sums it up. I was definately the heartbreak kid on this trip. I couldn't get anything to stay hooked. The last wahoo bite, I wouldn't get near the rod. I didn't want it to come unbuttoned too.

The bad thing is after the cobia pulled the hook I said I was going to get the pull-off grand slam on the next drift, and thats exactly what happened. Can't win them all I guess.

I'm glad we got to go though and definately had fun with some great company.

Mitch

Yeah, and the cat sits fairly high in the water. I remember turning around from the passengers chair and watching a 50gal drum get poured on my dad and you! I didn't have time to say anything except "wow" splash

Best Catch: The next bite on a jig.
That was a good shot of water. Almost as good as when Ty sat down next to me at the helm and said OK, where are all these fish? Almost on que 50gals came streaming in and soaked him.

Now thats NC water that we're all use to. It scares me to see flat days down there. It can be a trip killer. At least you had action and all is safe.
Some days those fish avoid the hooks like the plague.

Well, wish the fish bit better, but we had a great time anyway. I will echo Jim's comments, Thank God for the cat! My first time on a cat and I'm more than impressed with the ride in those sloppy conditions. I'm afraid in a mono we might have been suicidal! Want to thank Dean and Mitch for bringing the boat. Being out with great folks is always a pleasure, regardless of how the fish bite!

We'll get 'em next time!
