anyone ever jig/pop Roatan Honduras?
Hello, might be heading down to Roatan/ Guanaja for a little family vacation around the first week of June. I've been there before like 6yrs ago but we only trolled and it wasn't fantastic but seems like possibilities exist. I'm planning on bringing some gear down there w/ me . just wanted to see if any members out there have tried it down there and any suggestions on gear to bring.
I remember there was lots of cuda and wahoo around. blackfin tuna too. We never bottom fished there and I'm curious to see what can be targeted there.
Anyone?

I jig quite a bit in Roatan. I get bigger blackfins on the jigs as well as AJ's and the occasional bruiser black grouper. I like to drift live bait, hardtail, live ballyhoo, threadfins etc along the reef ledge. I fish the bait rods from the rod holders and jig the deep side as I drift. PM me when you get your dates scheduled. I would be happy to do a charter for your group and tailor it toward jigging if you like.

June is usually good for Marlin, Mahi's, Blackfin tuna and the occasional wahoo when trolling. Jigging is not really popular down here but some have had luck with it, there are plenty of AJ's and snapper year round. when in Guanaja I would recommend jigging on the northeast end of the Island lots of structure there.
Shoot me a Pm if you have any other questions.
Chris.
