    Alutecnos gorilla 12/JM 400

I am searching for a conventional reel to match a JM 400 to jig tuna and AJs. So far I'm liking the specs on the Alutecnos ALG-12. Other reels I have considered are the Shimano TN50 and the Daiwa SA50. Any input on reliability and jigability?

You got to choose whether you use star drag reels or lever drag reels.
Between TN50 and Daiwa SA50, I recommend Saltiga 40/50. TN50 has more max drag, but the 24 - 25 max drag of Saltiga 40/50 is good enough for any tuna under 150 lbs. The 3/0 size Saltiga is much convenient and lightger to use.
If you like TN50, then try TN40N or 40 and you don't need TN50's line capacity for tuna under 200 lbs.

If you want lever drag reels, Alutecnos 12 is a good choice, but I still like Accurate 665 two-speed. When Accurate introduces upgraded 665 two -speed, it will be an awesome tuna jigging reel.

Would the Albacore or the Gorilla be a better choice? The Gorilla looks better suited for jigging with an open top. The Albacore has a greater line capacity and weighs 3 oz. less. Would that offset the inconvenience of an open top and is there a difference in the anti reverse or spool width?

i use the saltiga 50, but any you mentioned would be a good choice.
the saltiga feels good on the JM and should be powerful enough for most of the fish

Jim what did you decide on? I think you would be very happy with a TN40 narrow. How bout the single speed accurate. I saw that the Baker docking system is very similar to that of JM's docking system for the accurates.

I'm still not sure. I want a lefty and that narrows it down considerably. I will most likely go with the Alutecnos. I looked at there parts diagram and they don't have the rahcheting anti reverse and I question if it will hold up better than the Accurates.I looked into the Accurate and the docking system only comes for right hand. I also don't know if all the bad rap on the Acccurates is because there are a lot out there or if they just don't hold up. I was also looking at the Avet HX but dont like the two speed or the ratios.

JIm Kil posted news of Jigging Master releasing their own reels soon and he also posted that Accurate is beginning the new extreme series, but they are going to continue to use anti-reversed bearings but will be much larger and made of higher tensile stainless.
