Angry Aiutoooooo! Shark destroying my reels!!

    Hoila jiggersssss
I got real lickssss.. I'm fishing every day 2 times a day from
3:30 /4:00am am to 6:30/7:00 am and from 4:00/5:00 pm to 8:00/9:00pm Only deep vertical... and Shark mash up all my reels...frying the drags of: Spheros 18000, Saragosa18000, and daiwa saltiga 50... I just brought a pe5 JM from kilsong corner, i hope he will resist shark attacks...I use JPR and Angler's Envy rods and ... Very nice rods... So now the question is...?? wich reel will keep going all day jigging 200/400gr jigs fishing average 150pd fishes average 15pd to30 each with 1/2 time a week some nice fellows more than 100pd.....
and almost every day 2/3 F****ing shark grab the fish we have on the jigs and ciao ciao reels....?? i have cold water ready to wet the reels but it dosen't works!!
And for big target is it better to invest in conventional or spinning?
    Grazie Maurizio

yea - and i dont mean to sound like a stuck up a$$, because i too fish with Saragosa's BUT i think you need to match the quality of your reels to the quality of your rods. its like buying a Ferrari and putting a used honda four banger in it.

i really dont think youll have any problems with the JM reel - now buy some high end spinners and i dont think youll have any problems (depending on the size of the shark, of course).

well i guess a reference to the brakes is more approriate. its a Ferrari 599 GTO w/ stock honda civic brakes

200+mph w/ those brakes - aint gonna happen

you need those $40,000 ceramic brakes

I will put my 2c up on it to see what others think. I would say if you are going spinning, the shimano 18000 would be best, and maybe a PE5 JM reel for conventional, or maybe even the accurate.

I tried the quantum Cabo and for the money, it wasn't even that good. The anti reverse blew up this week and needs to be replaced.

You won't have the drag cap melting issues with the stella line of reels. They are very, very nice reels and shimano has superior service. which one is completely up to you and your style of fishing. the 18000 has a little less line capacity than the 20000, but it does have a higher gear ratio which makes this reel perfect for throwing topwater plugs. The 20000 has a lower gear ratio and more line capacity , perfect for vertical jigging. you might want to look into the Diawa z6500 Expedition as well, very well built reel but you'll defenitly want to put carbontex drags in it as the stock drag s don't hold up very well over time. I have purchased both reels from Cape May Tackle with no issues.

If overhand reels is your liking the jigging Master PE reels are top notch, you might want to look into Aleutechnos gorrilla 12c reels (Cape May Tackle is authorized rep) as these reels are tough as nails and designed for VJing.
I believe SeaDraggin is an authorized dealer for these reels as wll and is a pleasure to deal with. (can't wait to see those new jigs!)

Accurate reels are very good as well JPR rods just became an authorized Dealer for them too so you might want to contact Paul and see if he can outfit you.

    How big are these sharks?

    Maus,
I would say that the 500 or 600G rod would be fine for a match to those reels. 1G per foot of water.
