Advice on Shimano Lucanus jig selection

We just got this question from a visitor

Can you advise me on the use of the new Shimano Lucanus jig for bottom fishing, gulf of Mexico, state waters of Texas less than 70ft depth, on the color and weight selection for grouper and snapper fishing. Thank you

For all jigging, the general rule of thumb is one gram per one foot of water.

In this case 70ft=70g. I would recommend anything up to 100g.

The jig weight will depend on current, Texas has pretty strong current even inshore or around a rig.

Have him or her look at this video Jer, colors are personal preference but i would suggest bright colors in varied weights from 100g-185g

First thing to do is change out the double hooks to a larger stronger single.

Jim, those are SWEET. I bought a few squid jigs to put bait on for DEEP water grouper...they are 14oz I think. Wish I would have waited now...I want those!!!

    Mitch

edit: you keep coming out with new stuff....I won't be able to lift my jigs up to the boat in the mornings
