I researched them for a while. They make better sense than conventional rods. Best test...loosley grab a pole and reel and lift up on the rod on a heavy object. The reel will pop up to you. Regular conventional reels will stay at the bottom along with the line. That is proof on twist. Paul makes a great rod. I got mine from Capt. Neil on a Lamiglas CGBT 841M. I hope to tog on Sun with it. Look up Spiral wrap or acid wrap. They are harder to mass produce and they look funny. I want to try Tuna with it. We had an off tuna chunk this year.

NICE Vid! I have it set up with a trinidad 16N 80lb saltiga color braid (I had extra). I saw your tuna trip but could not make it.
This pic shows a 5 guide transition down to the bottom. Super freakin' sweet!

Thankyou for the responses. The next question is what hardware should be added to a conventional JM 350g and JM 500g blank. I am not too partial on ceramic guides. They seem to invaribly crack during travel or when a fishing buddy drops them on my non-skid deck.
I fish San Diego long range trips for Tuna and Yellowtail. Loreto Baja California for Huge Grouper,Yellowtail and Amberjack. Locally (So. Cal.) whenever I can get out on my sled (I am thinking I can get a 200-300 Lb. Thresher this spring when they run through.) I am planning fishing Australia, New Zealand, Costa Rica, PV Mexico, and of course The East Coast Bluefin and Whale Cod on the Stellwagen. I love getting jiggy wherever I fish.
Since the subject is hardware......... What do you think would be the ultimate conventional reel. I was thinking a Accurate reel but undecided on size. Never had a JM rod actually in my hand and do not have a feel for it's proper balance.
I am keeping an open mind on hardware so please post up on help building the ultimate jigging rod. This could be fun.
Merry Christmas all, and may a monster of a fish pull on the end of your line in the New Year.
