    Accurate reels, opinions, help, etc...

Hey guys, as of right now i Jig entirely with Saragosas. i have a bunch of them, and i LOVE em! But i was considering finally dropping the money on a Accurate spinning reel.

i run either 60 but mainly 80lb JB on my spinning jigging gear, which twinspin would be right for me?

This real is going to be what i go after the big guys with, when i come up next fall to fish tuna, this is going to be my #1. So it needs capacity and some balls Let me know what you guys think.

next, where the hell do i buy one? No one around here sells em, from what i can see, so where do all you guys get em from. of course, im sure the next post will be Kil telling me has them in stock and i should order now hahahahahaha, i hate it when the expensive stuff is available, Kil makes it too easy!

Thanks in advance for any and all help guys!
    Aaron

    Aaron,

This is my honest opinion, after seeing more than a few twinspins seize and fall apart I would not put them in the same class as a stella. All reels break, all reels have issues including shimanos but with that said Ive seen and heard alot of accurate issues. Maybe some of the issues have been fixed? Not sure

Accurate has only been making spinning reels for a few years while shimano has excelled at spinners for decades. If you going to drop money on a top tier reel I would strongly suggest using a Shimano Stella instead. I believe they have 24-48 hour turn around on all parts and service and are used world wide as the dominately used reel.

Accurate makes a good reel just not at the top IMHO BUT if you really want one I would suggest the lower ratio for jigging and the higher for popping.

This is my 100% completely honest opinion based on first hand knowledge and it may not go over big with people here who sell or own accurate reels

Buy a Stella. You will be happy you did.

Another vote for the stella, i have almost no experience with the twin spin but some with their conventionals and they always seem to have problems. I think accuarates are overrated.

i agree with glenn. 2 busted on the nov big e trip, one was literally on its first cast and fish. there was an issue with the main gear. Not surprising to me, as I had 2 gears break on 665 2-speeds last year. Both were SR 30s. Now, I've heard good things about the SR-20 so I have no idea what the difference is, but unless I just wanted to "try" the accurate then I'd spend that money on a stella. Unfortunately, I do not have the money to just be trying out $900 reels

BTW - you can prob get a used FA in great condition for far cheaper than a new accurate and itll perform flawlessly. The 3 I got this way have so far

i appreciate the candor guys! I had already decided to also buy a stella, this way i would have both. now im not made of money, dont get me wrong, it was gonna be at the same time, but now maybe ill just get two stellas.

Because im friends with a local shop owner i know my local Shimano rep, so thats nice. and i have heard awesome things about their customer service also.

I will keep an eye for a used FA, sadly i know where a brand new SW is sitting ready to buy

again guys, thanks for all the help!

I think you are making the right decision here!! All my stellas have been excellent to me and do what they are supposed to do. Unbreakable-NO, but I did have runs ins with Accurates that don't even work out of the box, brand new.
I think that is enough said!!

Of the last 2 Big E trips Ive been on Ive seen 3 SR30's tear up with fish on. One cost the guy a fish of a lifetime and the boat pool which was about the same as a new stella

most anglers fall for the look of the Acurate,
in my opinion they are not worth the money, i saw many accurate reel break so i second Glenn's opinion and i strongly suggest you to get a Stella,
at the end of the day you can't beat Shimano's service
