Accurate new BX2: ultimate tuna jigging reel

I did not like Accurate 870 or 665 single speed for tuna jigging as I felt the reel is not strong enough for tuna and I saw many problems with the reels.

I followed the development of Avet HX over a year as the reel could be my ultimate tuna jigging reel. However it was a big disappointment when the HX came out. It is indeed wahoo reel than tuna reel as the reel name implies and the binding problem was obvious.

Then Accurate announced the new 870 and 665 two-speed reels and I was surprised how well the reel was made.

The new 665 two-speed had everything I was hoping as a tuna reel. It is 3/0 size with weight of 25-26 oz, enough line capacity even with 80 lbs braided lines, excellent free spooling even on high drag, little binding problem on high drag, at least 25 lbs drag at strike and two speed not realizing the two speed reel was based on single speed internal gear and parts. Once I bought and tested the reel, minor problems came out soon. But they were just minor problems which can be fixed easily. My major concern is the main gears and major parts which are the same as Accurate single speed reels have as Accurate 870/665 single speed reels have to be upgraded in Asia to be strong enough for jigging . They shouldn't have built new Accurate 870 or 665 two-speed with the same gears as the old Accurate 870 or 665 single speed reels as they should have known these reel are going to be used with braided line for big fish like tuna.

It seems Accurate realized the problem as they introduce new BX2 series.
The Boss Extreme two-speed series eventually replace existing 870 or 665 two-speed.
It comes with stronger heat treated stainless steel gears and spool shaft and larger gear shaft along with largere anti reverse bearing.

It is my personal observation that no other reels will be close to the new Accurate BX2600, which is equivalent to 665 two-speed, for tuna jigging.
It is close to an ultimate tuna jigging reel I have been looking for.
They give up the round knob which is used for 665 two-speed and use power angled handle as they use for B2 30/50.
    That is a good move.
The price of BX2-600 is $599.

    Hello Kil,

    I.

    Really do not know.

    Thankyou Jigging Master.

    Thank you Paul JPR Rods.

    Accurate

But....... I will let you know in a few weeks. Actually I feel that for schooling tuna they will be fine. For Cow Yellowfin tuna or your Giant Bluefin tuna, it remains to be seen. I would feel that the BX2 30 or 50 would do the job.

The only thing I know is that my photography and editing sucks......

    Regards
    Mark

If they fixed the problems of the 665 2speed they will have an awsome jigging reel that would be worth the money. I can't wait to see how they hold up.

Did you hear if they plan to make extreme series single speeds? This is really good news!! I had a love hate relationship with my 665 2speed.

They atarted to make 665 two-speed with stronger material from last year. If anyone has first generation of 665 two-speed, Accuate can upgrade it with stronger gears and parts for $50 - 70.
