    Accurate BX2 for tuna jigging

I got the first shipment of Accurate BX2 600 today.
The size of BX2 looks identical to Accurate 665 two-speed as you see in the picture below.
The weight of BX2 is 29.5 oz while my 665 two-speed wheighs 28 oz.
I think the different handles or the material used make weight difference.
I put close to 30 lbs drag at strike and still it has excellent free spool and the binding is not obvious.
The angled handle is very nice and is much better than round knob handle they used for Accurate 665 two-speed.
With stronger material used and 30 lbs drag at strike, I have no doubt this reel can hand even 200 lbs tuna. Accuate did a great job to develop this kind of compact, but powerful reel. I have no doubt many tuna jig fishermen love this reel. I ordered 400/500 last week and Accurate said it took two - three weeks to get them. It seem the reels are in demand already.

Looks very nice! Can't wait to hear what you think about it after you test it out on one of the tunas!

on a side note, I have never tried an angled handle like that, but I prefer round knobs to the bar handles. What is the disadvantage to the round knobs...you seem to dislike them?

Many guys prefer round knob for spinning reels, but most don't like roudn knot for conventional reel for fighting big fish. You got to test them side by side to see which one is better.

Interesting...I don't see what the difference would be using spinning vs conventional besides which hand you crank with. I have two accurate 270's and tried the bar handle and the round handle on each and definately liked the round one better, thus I now have all my accurates with the round knobs. I guess its just personal preference...

Sorry to hijack your thread...I wish I could afford one of those BX2's right now!

How big did you land with your 270 ? To fight a 100 lbs tuna with round knob is not easy.
There are so many complaints about 665 round knob. That is why Accurate gave up round knob and install angled T-bar to new BX 2.

I usually put 300 yards of 80 lbs Tuf XP and add Japanese color coded PE line to save money. I haven't hand much problem with the connection, but it always has potential problem of any knot in the spool when it is not tightly spooled.

The BX2 can get over 30 lbs drag at strike, but you don't need more than 30 lbs drag at strike as you probably put lines upto 80 lbs on the reel.

I've caught up to 70-80lb AJ's on it...I also have a 665NN that has the round knob. That one has caught fish about the same size. I had 1 with a round knob and 1 with the bar handle and the fish caught with the round knob was more comfortable for me. Like I said though, I haven't use the angled T-bar handle.

I like the t-bar handles when I use larger gear (ie trolling), but for jigging...I prefer the round knobs. The largest jigging reel I use is the 665nn.

What are the benefits of using the round knob on a spinner that wouldn't translate to being a benefit on a conventional?
