    65" (160 lbs - 170 lbs) landed on a slugo

I went back to Cape Cod and fished with Capt Dom again yesterday. I fought the first nice bluefin, but the monster got away as the Gamatatsu treble hook got broken.
My friend Chris landed the second 65" tuna later. It took 25 minutes with 18 lbs drag. The OTI's 8'6" Tuna Sniper Popping rod rated to 40 lbs - 60 lbs performed beautifully along with Shimao Saragosa 18000F.
I thought the 40 lbs - 60 lbs Tuna Spiper popping rod are good for tuna upto 100 - 120 lbs, but the performace of the rod exceed my expectation. A few times the rod had a postion close to high sticking and I was afraid the rod got broken, but it survived.

The 40 - 60 lbs rod got punishment and handled well.

When casting sluggos to tuna what kind of presentation do you use?
Drift/twitch? Sweep/ reel? And what size jighead dou you use?

Lots of cruising schools being seen off OC. Worth a try IMO.

Cast, wait 4 - 5 seconds and crank fast.

    We used 2 oz jighead.

    Hi Josh,
It's been long time after we met together in Prince Ruppert, BC. I miss king salmon jigging .
Fighing big tuna with long rod is not hard as many guys think if you know how to fight. Here is pictures hwo much I relaxed to fight 300 plus lbs bluefin on past Wed.
I faught 1 hour 15 minutes and I was ready to go another hour, but unfortunately leader line got broken.
