    42 pound Yellowfin Grouper

Mike Hall Jr caught that fish. He is a senior at Topsail High School and was fishing with his dad aboard David Mason's boat, Knot Kiddin. He was jigging using the Roscoe jig from Blue Water Candy Lures.

The fish ended up weighing 42 pounds and 10 ounces when it was weighed the day after it was caught. That bested the world record by 1/2 pound but won't count as the new IGFA record because the rod was passed off when the fish was first hooked. I understand that it will be the new official NC record though.

That means that the Roscoe jig has now been involved in setting two new NC state records recently, this one and the one a few weeks ago for an AJ.

Congratulations to Mike and the rest of the crew - very nice fish!

Once in a lifetime catch. Congratulations to the angler, captain and crew, and Bluewater candy for the roscoe jig's success.

Are there any pictures of the fish when it was live or just caught. The colors on that fireback must have been magnificent.
