337 lbs bluefin on a popper today !!!

I just got a phone call from Capt Dom that they landed 337 lbs bluefin on a popper today. All I know is Hot's Gipong 77XH rod was used. More information will be followed.
It is very weird I discussed with a few fishermen today that Hots Gipong 77XH or 77XXH could be good popping rods for big bluefin in Cape Cod.

Best Catch: The next bite on a jig.
I went and found that chart you put up on 360. That one fell above the line, so it was above average. It would be interesting to see how the fish rate on that this fall. Also, my 103" was 575#. That was right on the line pretty much for comparison.

Are you going to throw poppers to giants ?
Actually my friend did when he fished giants out of Morehead City commerically. He saw a giant came up to the surface and he casted his Shibuki. He said it didn't take long to get spooled.

When I fished with Capt Dom last week, Dom saw a few giants pushed the water, but he wouldn't bother to get there. he thinks hooking a giant with a popper is a waste of money and time.

I think that is the stuff legends are made of. With the right equipment, single hooks and Capt like Dom, I wouldn't think twice, like your friend. Having a small manueverable boat like Doms would be the only way to do it.

It would be part luck. If you could snag a gill and get it to bleed out, but get it to the top before it totally dies would probably be critical.

Is it safe to say that chart isnt as accurate as we thought, because this fish comes in way over.

After speaking to both Dom and Adrian Teamwork today was what set them apart. Great that 3 guys can all work so hard to accomplish the unthinkable
