30-40lb line recommendation? Varivas Super PE?

Everyone has given me great advice to date on this forum. I jig off South Florida, mostly in water less than 200', 120-180' typical.

I love my metered Daiwa Saltiga boat braid (55lb) on a stradic 8000(29lb max drag)/captain harry's custom jigging rod set up, and primarily fish 150gr jigs. I was encouraged to drop down to lighter line (30lb) which would enable me to drop fast using ~100gram jigs?

I am going to fill my spare spool with line and give it a try. Tuf line xp 30lb, and sufix performance braid 30-40lb, were suggested, but then I came across the new Varivas 33/44lb Super PE and wondered if anyone had used it?

Wanted to bring this to the forum for some help. I would have gotten the Daiwa Boat braid but 40lb is the lowest, and it is not made in the 300m spools.

Thanks in advance for the help!

The next bite on a jig.
Tufline XP is a known winner. I got many giants with it before discovering JB hollow.

I have some Varivas pe-3 on my saltiga 15 and havent had any problems with it. Its smooth and metered every 10 meters. It is however a little on the expensive side.

You can't go wrong with Varivas,
very good line, expensive yes but will serve you for a long period, thinner in diameter allow the line to cut through the water faster,

I agree with the other posters as well and would like to add that the Sufix is very good line, but it is the thickest out of all lines mentioned. It is much stronger than stated on the box.

Sony- I just sent you a message with some details. I just posted a photo gallery (member SeaGreen) of some fish I have caught jigging on the drift boat I go on regularly. Jig exclusively, catch fish consistently.

I routinely catch bonito, almaco jacks, amberjack, mutton snapper, kings.

I have caught 34lb cobia, 17lb gag grouper, 20lb 'cuda in past year or so.

I have picked up a TON of tips and recommendations from the forum, learned things on my own experimenting, and gotten guidance from a couple guys in town about local jigging.

I find the williamson benthos 5oz to be the best all around jig for the drift boat in 120-180 ft.

Happy to help you get started.
