    3/31/09 Report (Updated w/ PICS!)

Well, made it out 44 miles right off the bat to calm seas, enjoyable ride to say the least, and not cold!()

Trolled around a few hours, couple king pissed us off. then, we said to hell with this, lets get down to some fish catching!

I get first jig to the bottom, and 2 minutes later got a nice 15lb gag in the boat....every drop after that was constant hookups to 50+lb ajs..one drop/one fish ratio..

hour or so later i got a fiesty little 22lb cobe that decided he wanted to play tarpon and jumped a couple times near the boat.

Mac/Jeff wore out the aj's. we had all the pull we wanted, and after i did some post jigging chumming()headed back home into a sloppy side sea, but jeffs boat ate it up.

thanks for havin me jeff! had a good time.

    Jesse

Thanks for the report. Sounds like a great day. Did you catch any more grouper other than the gag?
    Thanks.

Only bad part of today is now I'm at work.

I need to correct Jesse (first drop) Lockowitz. In keeping with Sea Draggin's theory Jesse's 1st drop was the Gag and his first drop when we moved was the Cobia. Plus he was on fire.

The only other correction was we had 3 huge hoo bites when trolling, I say that because we didn't have them on long enough to have any idea what they where. Pulled hook and short stricks on the planner.

A serious comment it was a great day on the water with Jesse and Mac it got a little rough after 1200. We boated at least 30 AJ's, I would guess only 5 where less than 25 lbs, and 10-15 where 50-60 lbs. It was like they all came from teh same cookie cutter.

I had a great time guys. Let's see the pics.

no, i didnt work the bottom very hard. the few times i did, i hooked the cobe, a gag, and hooked something that i could not stop w/ 25+lbs of drag on my saltiga 50 + thumbing it, finally got into the artireef and cut me off.

i just rely on my depth marked line, and was just watching the depth finder and just dropping my jig right to where the aj's were stacked.

still would like to know that one fish i couldnt stop

It was one hell of a day to say the least. Jesse "One drop and only to chum all over the side of the boat" Lockowitz did good. It was just damb fun to be out there with something that pulled back on the other end. Good company and good fishing beats the hell outa and day at work.

I was useing Eastern Tackle Katana's 240 gram, In a couple differant colors, something with a lot of glow seemed to be the color of the day. I did catch fish on Pot Roast and Pig Roast as well. I switch to a glow to try to slow Jesse down and steal one of the meat fish.

I'm not sure exactly what Jesse and Mac where dropping. I do know the Cobia broke Jesse's in half, and he dropped it again and got hit again.
