HAD A PRETTY GOOD YEAR IN THE GULF. TONS OF SNAPPER, KINGS, GROUPER, AJ'S, AND OVER EIGHTY COBIA THIS YEAR. BEST COBIA FISHING I HAVE EVER SEEN. ALSO CAUGHT A FEW MAHI, AND ONE WAHOO WHICH IS A HAUL TO GET TO IN MISSISIPPI. WENT TO VENICE AND CAUGHT SOME YELLOWFINS,AND BLACKFINS. INSHORE FISHING WAS LOADED WITH REDFISH. STARTING MY NEW YEAR OFF WITH TWO TRIPS TO VENICE FOR TUNA AND WAHOO.

    are you commercial fishermen?
I fished a lot this year and I might
have HAD A TOTAL OF 12-15 days
offshore this year. And that number may
    be a bit high!

Fishing wise I had a pretty good year with 3 major offshore trips to The 3 Kings and the Ranfurly Banks, all with great company.
First trip in March to the 3 Kings with Pony and crew from Jigging Master. This was a trip to test the new JM PE reels and Free Jigger rods. Epic trip with some great fish caught as usual. Happened to catch my first Stripy on trolling gear, could'nt wait to pick up my jig gear and tangle with another Yellowtail. Trolling gear is too heavy and just sucks.

Second trip in June again to the 3 Kings. This time with a load of guys from So Cal. I provided all the jigging gear and schooled them up in jigging. The guys took to the mechanical jigging quickly and were soon busting PB's on YT. Another highlight was the landing of a 300+lb Stripy on a live bait.

Third trip was in november to the Ranfurly Banks. this was a great opportunity to test our new Jig Star Kojak rods. These proved fantastic and certainly up to expectations with some real slobs landed. Highlight for me was landing 66lb, 70lb and 90lb Yellowtail on jigs. Anesh lands a 120lb Wreakfish, another PB for him.

2009 was a good year fishung wise and business wise despite the recession. We survive another year to fish again in 2010.

No, I'm no even a good fisherman a just like like it so much.
you guys have a long ride to fishing grounds.here in pompano beach Fl 200 ft of water and some wrecks to fish are about 1 mile from shore. i go solo on my jet ski sometimes with no bait just the jigs and 2 rods I can leave as late as 4pm and put more then 3 hours of fishing on a summer time is just that easy for me. no to much planning just fish for a couple of hours and go back home.I keep it low budget so i do it more often. I will post a foto of my fishingraider.

Wow, those are some great pics. I had a pretty good year in 2009 but nothing to compare. My first fishing trip for 2009 was one of my best. We went to Hatteras the weekend of the Superbowl and were jigging for blackfin on Superbowl Sunday 2009. We got a lot of AJs, some FAs and this blackfin. It was my first offshore speed jigging trip. Since then I've built my arsenal acquiring 2 Trevalas, one for a Saltist 40 and one for a big Penn spinning reel both with 80 lb braid. Of course I've collected a bunch of jigs too. We're all going down again in a few weeks to jig up some more. Here's a few pics from our 2009 trip:

    Me with a blackfin

    Me with an Almaco jack

Pic of us from that day taken by Ric Burnley and published in January 2010 issue of SWS - (we all thought that was cool )

Here's a pic from mid Bay in March - caught these jigging after the gannets gave their location away

A red from Cape Charles in May

All in all I had a good year but never get to fish as much as I want. My goals for 2010 include catching a billfish of any kind and adding to my species list at least one new species such as a tilefish. Wish me luck!
