10/4 Topwater AJ's

Had some fun today with the donkeys on topwater..

only had lighter stuff with us, werent really going to play with em, but when ya can get 5-10 of them big ole peckers crashing on a big topwater its a helluva good time..

Not the 100lbers you guys are after, but, in 60ft of water ( i think most of the time was mid 50ft depth), they are hella fun gettin a whole group of them absolutely bonkers on topwater plugs..

i have no idea how many we caught, we left them goin crazy around the bouys..wish i had my heavier jigging/plugging stuff with me, went through some tackle, they were demolishing everything, im glad i had a pack of owner heavy duty split rings with me, or ida' been screwed lol.

Nice dude! We obviously don't have AJs up here so I wasn't aware that you could target them on topwater- they must absolutely pound the plugs

yeah its cool as hell. 54.5ft of water most of the time as i recall too...

they would hardly touch the live mullet we were tossin out on the bottom for flounder, and live lined some for some snake kings...

somethin about a big popper thrashin on top, they just come out from near the bouy , big dog pack of them 5-8 of them usually, and follow it hard, until one noses up really close, and as soon as that one noses up, the others will friggin crash it, i guess its the "ME FIRST MY FOOD" mentality they have...

they would not touch a live mullet unless i teased/brought the school of them near the boat, and they got all adjitated from the topwater..

cant wait to go get em with my popping/jiggin junk with me...

No, as the water cools, the fish should push off to deeper structure.

yep,it aint gona be much longer, they are gonna be pushin further..

but im pretty sure them sumbeeches are there allllll summer, and its really close run, i think that spot was like 4mile and some change...can see the beach from the buoy hard to beat that kind of action, that close to the beach. only 55-60ft of water too, so they dont have to helluva long way they can dive on ya.

im looking to get into alot more jigging/popping....DEFINATELY more popping..1 fish like that on top, is better then 5 to me down deep..

Topwater fishing is intoxicating. What an adrenaline rush! Good work on the AJ' s. Would have loved to been there for that!
