    Your Stand on Domestic drilling??

I am in favor of an aggressive domestic energy program.

There is no alternative currently available to the internal combustion engine.

This economic slowdown is aggravated by high fuel costs which if left unchecked will do enormous harm.

Businesses heavily dependent on fuel, marine industries, independent truckers, airlines are reeling from the effects.

Where do you stand on domestic energy production??

    Drill!

We have the resources right here! Lets go get it! It would be nice to have gas less than $1.00/gal. However it would take over 20 years to get the first drop to the pump. To much red tape!

    Cliff,
If we may leave ANWR out of the equation for the moment. Have you seen any credible estimates of how much offshore oil is economically viable in the $80 - $100 a barrel range (preferably by region)? I honestly don't know.

I say drill and I bet the price of oil would drop as soon as they approved drilling sites.

    Do we have recoverable oil?

I have read that shale oil is viable in 50-100 dollar range and it is estimated to be greater in volume than the Saudi reserves.

I am led to believe that we have a lot of oil off Florida, the East and West coasts also.

I am not privy to seismic estimates.

Drilling for new fields off the Outer Continental Shelf has been illegal since 1981. The data probably won't be generated till this moratorium is lifted.

The voters have the power but we are apathetic.

No doubt about it. How long would that would last--- a week?- a month?---
The markets certainly aren't what they used to be.

I agree. We are currently out of the game. We don't count. If we come up with a creditable energy plan the speculators will take notice.

I have never fished around the rigs in the gulf but I have seen the results on this site and the mags. We have a light tower 35 mi out and it is a fish haven. I would love to see rigs in the atlantic to reduce our dependance on other countries.
