Yearly cost of owning a boat?

I was trying to figure out how much more it cost a year to run a boat with twin 150s vs. a single 250. Excluding fuel cost and the actual payment, can anyone tell me approx. how much more it cost to maintain twins? Do all the cost basically double? You have two motors to winterize and service so I assume it doubles? Is that correct? I would like to buy a little bigger boat the first time so im not trying to sell it in 2 years to upgrade. Thanks in advance.

Haha, yea I heard that from a few people already. You know your gonna spend money when buying boat, like any other hobby. Least you got a good reason to go to work then.

    I bought a 29 foot express in 05 with twin 270 inboards. I have a 240 gallon fuel tank and a 25 gallon reserve.
I had to replace my port engine this summer.
I don't think about cost, I usually just bend over and pay.

I'll tell you whats depressing. Depressing is your boat up on blocks, and counting the days till it goes back in the water.
Thats when boat ownership is best. I get out as often as I can.
I fish for bluefish during the week and than use them as chum and bait for sharking on the weekends.

    I would get twins

if you are thinking of going offshore. If you plan to stay within site of shore a single is OK. An alternative to twins would be to go offshore only with another boat. There is no better feeling than getting back safely to the inlet.

An Epirb and a raft are reasonable aquisitions. This is an expensive sport. It is also addicting. A friend used to say "nothing is to good for the boat".

    Good luck.

Not planning on heading offshore the first year or two. But eventually im gonna want to. And I dont want to have to sell a 2 year old boat to upgrade to a bigger twin motor boat. So does anyone have any rough numbers?

So does anyone have any idea what it actually cost? Dollar wise, just looking for an idea for a difference between single and twin.
