Thumbs up Yankees get Pudge from Tigers

Pudge has some time under his belt, but he's still going strong...

NEW YORK -- The Yankees acquired 14-time All-Star catcher Ivan Rodriguez from the Tigers on Wednesday in exchange for right-handed reliever Kyle Farnsworth.
The Yankees were in need of a catcher since Jorge Posada decided to undergo season-ending surgery on his throwing shoulder.
Rodriguez, a 13-time Gold Glove winner, is batting .295 with five home runs and 32 RBIs in 82 games this season. A career .302 hitter, the 37-year-old catcher is in his 18th Major League season.
Farnsworth, 32, was having his best season of his three with the Yankees, pitching to a 3.65 ERA in 45 appearances. He struggled in a setup role his first two seasons after joining the Yankees as a free agent prior to the 2006 season.
Farsworth pitched for Detroit in 2005, registering six saves before being traded to Atlanta at the July 31 Trade Deadline.
Rodriguez played for the 2003 world champion Florida Marlins and the American League champion Tigers in 2006.
He was the AL MVP in 1999, when he batted .332 with 35 homers and 113 RBIs for the Texas Rangers. He played his first 12 seasons with the Rangers before leaving as a free agent and signing a one-year contract with Florida.
The Yankees' setup role has been increasingly filled by right-hander Jose Veras, and the addition of left-hander Damaso Marte gave them two candidates for the role.

I am a Yankee fan. But I think they still need better pitching. They also should think about getting rid of Damon and picking up a younger outfielder. They have plenty of vets in the clubhouse to keep it rolling.

I agree about the pitching but they have to have a second catcher.

Molinas is doing a great job behind the plate but he can't hit his way out of a wet paper bag.

I am heading up to the stadium on the 15th they are playing KC. They wanted 800.00 per ticket behind home plate to see Boston.

That's just crazy. I gave up my season tickets a couple of years ago when they told me that I was no longer allowed to purchase due to the fact that I sold some games that I couldn't go to on stub hub. I was informed later that I could protest that decision but at that point I was so pissed off I just let them go without a fight.

I think that all of the "new" NY stadiums are pricing themselves right out of the game.

A friend of mine just told me that his tickets for the Giants will be going up to $700.00 per game and he will need to pay $20,000.00 per seat just for the right to purchase them. He has great seats (47 yard line lower level) but that is just crazy. He will need to come up with $102,400.00 just for the first year of the new stadium. Needless to say he will not be a season ticket holder anymore.

I have season tickets to the giants as well. 27th row of the upper level in the endzone
Now these tickets aren't in my name so I doubt that I will be paying that up front cost just to be able to purchase them. I understand that the min cost for the right to purchase the tickets will be $1,000.00

Sounds like there could possibly be a bunch of empty seats in the NY stadiums in the years to come.

I paid 100.00 per ticket behind right handers batters box 17 rows from the field. The water bottles at the field 5.00 per bottle. Thats how A Rod can make the money he makes.
