I wonder how santa would deliver it to me??
Probably with a big smile on his face
das es nice boot.![]()
Hate to say it I couldn't even afford the wax !!! Not a slam here, but as time goes on, the designer's are forgetting what a BOAT is supposed to look like. With a good boat function, makes the look's. Not the other way around. Frank
All I can say is, if you own one you better keep wax on that baby...
I cannot IMAGINE what the price tag would be on it to get it compounded and waxed.
It would take me two years to compound and wax either boat.. a year for each side.
If you are going to buy a mega yacht then why not buy one with duel function?
Most people who buy these beasts are fishermen at heart and want a boat that they can fish and cruise on.
when you see these yachts up close the first reaction is HOLY MOLY that thing is huge..![]()
The first time I stepped on one I was in awe, I feel that any crew that works on one of these beasts are so lucky, you get the best of both worlds...cruising and fishing.

I was thinking even if I won the Powerball or Lottery I still would not be able to afford one of those...It is impossible for me to comprehend numbers that are that big! Makes for nice pictures though!!
Wow, actual proof that Tom Fexas' layer cake theory was right. In case your not familiar with the name he was a naval architecht who wrote for Power & Motoryacht.
He observed that boats started out open, but then people wanted to get out of the weather so they built cabins. But they wanted visibility and fresh air, so they put a bridge on top of it. Then, to get out of the weather they enclosed the bridge. He speculated that they would eventually put a bridge on top of that.... they did.
IMHO, boats like that are just like the trophy mansions that insecure people build. Their real purpose certainly isn't to go fishing, or to have a nice place to live.
On the other hand, maybe I'm just jealous.![]()
IE8 says this may be a phishing site....Well, DUH!!!!!!... Stupid jerks can't even spell fishing right.
Nice boat I guess. Not to fond of the windows on the house sides. I do think that 171 feet is a little excessive as far as a sportfisher goes. Once your in the market for something that size it would be better off to build a mothership and then just carry a game boat. Easier to fish a smaller boat then trying to chase down a hot marlin with a vessel that sizeThese rigs do not stop right away after you hook up on the troll either which can lead to some interesting results. In the early 90's I was captain of a large sportfisher / mothership by the name of "Crystal" She was 121 feet X 25. There were a few other operations around then like the Ocean Pacific, El Zorro and Madam & Hooker. I had a blast back then because you could anchor the big boat up in the lee of an island and then screw around on a smaller one all day which makes more sense. As far as the cost to operate one of these you better have some deep pockets. The Crystal held 20.000 gal of fuel and at that time it was $.70 per gal. The owner would gringe everytime I told him I think it's time to go to the fuel dock
I will say that the crews who work on vessels this size sure do live in luxury. I had my own private stateroom and head which were not small in size by any means, Oh those were the days

As heard on the dock a week before provisioning that 171' behemoth.....
- ok, look, I need 5 guys minimum~ to help split the gas, $20k each
who's in??
then, we need a little food~ for like 3 months...another $5k
It should take 5 days with a garden hose to fill the fresh water tanks with 4,200 gallons
what else? Beer...who's got the beer?
She was built in San Pedro California in the mid 80's. The owner had built a few smaller vessels himself in the past so he decided to do this one as well. Rented some space at a local boat yard, hired a crew and built her in two years. Did you notice the hot tub in the bow?![]()
