Bought a 2004, 27' World cat HTS with 150 hours, this is the twin Diesel package model, last year and I have never seen a boat with so many problems. The engine hatches are on the swim platform and they leak like there is no engine hatch at all. The previous owner had to replace 6 turbo's due to salt water entry and everytime he went fishing it broke down( that is why the low hours).. The corrosion is so extensive I can not keep it at bay.
The Marina I bought it from is Town Creek Marina in Beaufort, N.C., they are the biggest group of liars I ever met, especially Lisa A, and the people at World Cat are not much different. W.C has known this boat is a lemon from day one when on it's maiden voyage it blew an engine.
W.C has been trying to claim that they had no idea there was a leak problem, but they retrofitted other boats with a modification.
I have owned the boat a year, worked on it 8 months, could only use it 3 times because it wouldn't keep running, all three times I had problems, and the third time I had to be rescued by the Coast Guard 42 miles off shore out of Westport, Washington.
My advice? Buy some other Cat because so far W.C does not stand behind their product.
W.C's service manager's policy is "We made it, you bought it, you fix it, not our problem, goodbye". My slogan for World Cat is " buy a world cat and you will never go fishing again", or "fish in your driveway the boat is more reliable there", or" I thot salt water was supposed to be on the outside of the boat", or "buy a World Cat and the Coast guard will know you by FIRST name."
Anyone else have similar problems?
If you read this, send an e-mail to W.C. and say you saw a story about this lemon boat on-line. Talk to Phyllis or Scott.
